FAQ

You’ll get matched with another member of the LGA community. You’ll form a partnership with the other member. This will include coaching each other, providing honest and constructive feedback, and most importantly holding each other accountable for doing what you set out to do. This will need to be done often and on a regular basis.  

Your partner will be someone outside yourself that will help you with limiting beliefs and negative thoughts. We are all harsher on ourselves than others. It will be important for you to listen to your partner and not the voice in the back of your head that is holding you back. 

There are no strict guidelines on formats or frequency of contact. We find that twice a month on a set date and time works well. The more you keep firm on the date and time the more likely you will get everything you need to do in that time frame. 

We recommend a phone call or zoom call check at some interval and then regular communications via text and email. Remember that you will get out of it what you put in. 

Consider this like a relationship, check-in with your partner. Be open to working with someone from a different industry, who can bring a new or unique perspective to your business.

Each accountability partner set will run for 6 weeks. Of course, you can continue to be partners with your partner, but we like the idea of people branching out and partnering with people with different interests and industries.

We will have a couple of matchings a year so don’t fret if you missed one. There will be plenty of more. 

Your conversation structure is completely up to you. You’ll find after a few conversations about what communication style works for you. We recommend sharing a Google document with a basic outline of your conversations so that you can refer back to them.

A format that many of our members use is to discuss what went well, what didn’t go as planned, and what you want to work on in the future. We recommend trying to keep it to a certain amount of time as well. Five minutes each for one section, ten minutes for the next, and so on. 

Make sure to set the date and time for the next meeting at the end of your call and stick to it. 

Commit to being the best accountability partner you can be. Show up even if you haven’t done the stuff you said you would for the week. Just you showing up is a big win.

If things didn’t go as planned, talk it out with your partner. What happened? What could you do better? Just like any relationship, this is a give and take. 

Make reasonable goals, and figure out what the smallest next step is. Avoid getting overwhelmed by overcommitting to an unrealistic schedule. Make sure your goals follow the PACT acronym:

• Are your goals Possible?
• Are your goals Actionable?
• Are your goals Clear?
• Do your goals have a Time-bound deadline?

It starts off with the first phone call, set expectations, and be honest with your availability. We recommend starting off with twice a month, and seeing how that goes. It may be enough, or you may be able to fit in weekly calls. 

Consistency is key. We’ve had members talk to each other on vacations, kid’s sports games, and between surgeries. If it’s important to you, you’ll make time. Your check-in doesn’t have to take long, even 15 minutes can hold you accountable and have tremendous results. 

You can also talk asynchronously with texts and emails to fill in the details after your quick call. 

Schedule your accountability calls in your calendar and try to stick to the schedule. Of course, life happens, so if you need to change try and give notice and make sure to book another date and time. We all have busy schedules so try and respect their time and yourself by meeting and progressing together. 

Be enthusiastic, go out of your way to make sure your partner succeeds in whatever they want to do. Be their biggest cheerleader. You guys made a big commitment to each other. Celebrate it. Be honest, but kind. Keep your feedback positive and work on a solution together to improve.
